It's all happened to all of us one time or another. We didn't back up our iPhone device(s). This can happen anytime to anyone and your iPhone could lose all the data. IE: Photos, Music, Movies, Etc. If backed up - correctly. Your good to go however if you haven't backed up your iPhone since you've bought it or even enabled iCloud then your going to have a huge amount of data loss. Which is why when you plug your iPhone into your Laptop, Or Desktop iTunes automatically backs it up for you. This way, in case you want to reset it you can and have everything you had before on it. I always recommend anyone, be it personal or business use - back it up once a week, even once every two weeks. Why ?
This is simple and easy - you don't want to lose any data. If you lose one days, fine, two ok, three or more than your asking for trouble. As well, a common misconception with backing up the iPhone is "Encryption" a lot of people will click the box make a password forget it and back up their iPhone device(s). Heed my warning on this, Apple will not and can not recover your password or data. Again I repeat APPLE CAN NOT RETRIEVE your data or password. So do not click "Encryption" simply, click: Backup and it'll save the name of your iPhone device(s) and date it was backed up, I can't begin to tell you how much or how many people have encrypted their backups and forgotten their Password(s). So always make it a habit to back up your iPhone once a week or once every two weeks. You do not want to lose any data in anyway.
To backup your iPhone, is now done automatically once you've plugged it into your Laptop, Or Desktop and iTunes opens up and begins the back up. If that doesn't happen automatically, then you can manually back it up by doing the following:
Start > All Programs > iTunes > iTunes Application > Let it load.
Then, Plug your iPhone Device into the Laptop Or Desktop - it'll do one of two things:
IE: Automatically back it up Or...
IE: Click manually back up my iPhone and DO NOT CLICK ENCRYPT The Backup.
Note: REPEAT Do not encrypt your backup unless your going to remember your password. Even write it down it need be, trust me.
Backing up your iPhone Device(s) is really simple and easy and doesn't take much time. Once it's backed up, you can go ahead and add movies, music, television shows, even personal movies. From there it'll Sync - backup and then if something happens to your iPhone Device(s). Say if you get a new one, your iPhone is destroyed by some force that is out of your control. You can always restore your iPhone Device(s) from the back up that was done Automatically, or manually by you without Encrypting it.
So remember, back up once a week or once every two weeks, and ensure you have iCloud on if you have DATA PLAN - and your not on any FEDERAL, DOD, FIRM Or Corporate materials being sent to or from your iPhone Device(s). I can't Stress enough how much backing up your iPhone device(s) can be. I once had a person destroy his iPhone and he was in brazil for the world cup and lost all 2,000 photos - 100 videos and so much more. Though, I was able to explain - you should back up no matter what and always bring your laptop or have iCloud on.
