You honestly, dont need iTunes, or another software to remove photos and videos off of your iPhone or iPad. In order to either back them up Or To make free space on your iPhone or iPad, you can simply plug the iPhone or iPad into your laptop and then allow it to install the drivers. Once the drivers are installed the iPhone or iPad acts as a USB Device which the computer thinks of it as an external hard drive and or USB Flash Drive that you can now access and move things off of it. That's the thing with this trick you can only move your Photos, or videos off of your Apple Device and not put anything on. This trick only works with removing your photos and videos and not anything else. You can back up your Music, or put things on the apple device only simply remove and delete.

I believe, a lot of people already know about this but for those who don't plug in your iPhone or iPad and see what happens. You'll notice the computer say "device drivers installed successfully" and from there another window appears, this window will allow you to "open or view files" on the device or "import". I would simply, X out of the window and go to Start > Computer > And choose the iPhone or iPad device appearing as removable storage or it'll look like a camera icon. Click on it, and then follow the folder structure, keep moving til you see a listing of folders located in the DM Folder. You'll either have one or multiple depending on the amount of storage on the iPhone or iPad or the amount of photos or videos you have on it. You can now see your photos or videos and start taking them off of your iPhone or iPad and placing them into a backup folder on your laptop - or on your desktop. which ever you prefer to make it easier for you.

A lot of what Apple, or other people will tell you is - you have no control over your iPhone Or iPad device. Well, this is just one example of the things you can do without having to JAILBREAK Or Mod your iPhone or iPad in anyway. Something, that comes to mind is with the iPod Gen 2-3 models back in the day. You could have a 60GB or 100GB And you where or could enable "use as external storage" on them and add files to it - they wouldn't show on the iPOD itself but you could use it as a external usb drive which you could then, have your music - movies on it but also plug it into your work computer, and more and be able to have your information to carry around with you. However, sadly now you can no longer do that. But our example of moving Photos and videos off your iPhone Or iPad will make you feel a little nostalgic for the old days. If you've not done so, or if this isn't working for you. There are a couple of things you can make sure you are doing.

Ensure your iPhone or iPad are setup, meaning you have the most current iOS Version installed. You've put music, videos, apps etc on the iPhone or iPad devices and have plugged it in more than twice in to your laptop. Even more so, ensure that when you do plug in the iPhone or iPad device into your laptop, or computer. That the device drivers did install and that they're no error messages showing for you. If you do have anything showing, such as IE: Drivers Failed To Load Or You go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager and if you look at the bottom it'll show Unknown or Failed drivers. You'll see the listing for your iPhone or iPad device in there. However, I've not seen this and 99% of time the above trick works for removing or taking off photos of videos from your iPhone or iPad to your Laptop or Computer. Just make sure, you don't FORMAT your iPhone or iPad. Also, make sure iTunes is not running when doing the above as it can make or take longer to move pictures and videos off of your iPhone or iPad. How To Make sure iTunes isn't running, either close the program or press: CTRL+SHIFT+ESC And Task Manager will appear, processes tab and look for iTunes.exe and click on it and click: End task. Now iTunes should no longer be running and allow you better access to your iPhone Or iPad.
